It was earlier famous for the Ship Building industry. Beypore was one of the most important port and fishing harbor of Kerala during ancient times. The place was an important trade and maritime center for merchants from Western Asia. Uru, the traditional Arabian trading vessel, was constructed at the boat-building yard of Beypore. Beypore also has a magnificent bridge built entirely of stone. The bridge is made by huge stones piled together to make a pathway into the sea for nearly 2 km. |
